UNISTRA KEY PERSONNELDescription:
Association of University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) and National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in
UMR 7515, the laboratory called LMSPC (Laboratoire des Matériaux, Surfaces et Procédés pour la
Catalyse) was part of the European laboratory ELCASS and member of the Network of Excellence IDECAT
(NMP3-CT-2005-011730). About 100 people including university and CNRS researchers, engineers,
technicians, post-doc and PhD students are working permanently.
Our group (Energy and Fuels for a Sustainable Environment) in the LMSPC deals mainly with studies on
catalytic activities and chemical processes. The main fields of research are related to environmental catalysis
and energy with the development of catalysts by several synthesis methods and their characterisation by
various techniques like X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Temperature Programmed Reduction (TPR),
Chemisorptions, Transmission Electron Microscopy coupled to Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy
(TEM/EDXS), Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray Photoelectrons Spectroscopy (XPS), Temperature
Programmed Oxidation (TPO).
The group is also member of permanent research networks on energy and sustainable development on
national or international level (ANR-PREDIT, ACI-CNRS, PIE-CNRS, GDRI).
Projects have been carried out at international level and funded by European Union in the DeNOx reaction
(G3RD-CT2002-00792) and in biomass valorisation (JOR-CT95-0037; JOR-CT99-0196; ENK-5CT2000-
00314; Energy FP7 Collaborative Project n°211517). Our contribution in this project is based on these
previous research contracts together with numerous thesis works (S. Rapagna 1996, D. Swierczynski 2004,
L. Di Felice 2010, M. Virginie 2011).
In UNIfHY project, UNISTRA will be involved in the following work packages:
- WP2: Tests at bench scale and more particularly in the synthesis, characterization, reactivity tests
(laboratory scale), and after test characterization of Fe/Foam and Cu/Foam catalysts. UNISTRA will realize
and characterize different Ni-Fe/CaO-MgO catalysts/sorbents for the contemporary residual Hydrocarbon
Reforming and WGS and CO2 capture. UNISTRA is also the WP leader of the WP2.
- WP2, WP3, WP4: Large-scale preparation of the Fe/olivine catalyst and characterization before and after
reactivity test at different levels for validation of Fe/Foam and Cu/Foam WGS catalysts.
